Harry’s New York Bar, Paris, was the birthplace of this classic restorative cocktail. The year was 1921. Fernand ‘Pete’ Petiot combined tomato juice, Vodka and spices for the first time. The Charlie Chaplin cocktail is definitely for when you have a sweet tooth. Conceived and originally served at New York’s old Waldorf-Astoria prior to 1920. The drink is named after Sir Charles Spenser ‘Charlie’ Chaplin, the English slapstick comic actor of the silent film era, who was at the height of his career when this eponymous cocktail was created.
